The Country Life | Ekone Ranch

On Friday night, to celebrate such an awesome week of skillful riding, boundless creativity, and hard work putting hay in, we went over to our neighbors’ farm for a good old-fashioned jamboree. It was one of those long, warm July evenings, when it seems like the sun will never quite set...and no one really wants it to, either!

First we picked some scrumptious raspberries for a special desert and a crepe breakfast on Saturday…

Wow, you guys picked 15 pounds of raspberries! And that doesn’t even include the ones we ate on the sly…

After exploring the farm, with its raspberries, strawberries, and apple, apricot, and cherry trees, we had a chance to meet some new four-legged friends, and learn a little about spinning and felting their wool...

And all the while, everyone stopped by the porch to have a turn with this marvelous new-fangled contraption...what on earth could it be for?...

Ice cream, of course! And after all that cranking and raspberry picking, we sure worked up an appetite! As the sun finally dipped below the horizon, we all gathered to enjoy a bowl of homemade ice cream, topped with rasperries so fresh we could still taste the summer sunshine.

All topped off by a fabulous front-porch sing-along led by some of our talented musicians. Ahhhh...just another day in the country life!
