Well, we apologize for the lack of blog postings this week, but it has just been so dang HOT that we were aftraid our computer might melt if we used it too much! Luckily, we cowgirls have some time-tested tricks to beat the heat, so on Tuesday we woke up at the crack of dawn to go riding in the cool of the morning, and then after a late breakfast we headed on down to the river. There is sure no cure for the 102-degrees-in-the-shade blues like spending all day neck deep in cool water!

AHHHHHH....

Besides swimming, wading, paddling, splashing, lounging, floating, and just about any other water-related activity you could name, we also enjoyed a delightful picnic lunch...

...complete with wraps, homemade granola bars, all the watermelon we could eat, and some handcranked peach sorbet made right on the riverbank! We sure are getting some mileage out of the old ice cream maker this year. We also spent some time reading, writing in our journals, and thumbing through the Trivial Pursuit cards, suprising ourselves with how many bits of obscure trivia we collectively knew.

In fact, it was SO much fun that we had to go back on Wednesday for a repeat performance! Perhaps next year we should offer a river camp during the hot months... ;)
