The crew worked hard this week to unload and stack 3 loads of hay in the barn....all before breakfast! The truck arrives at 7:00 on hay mornings and if we work fast we can be at breakfast by 8:30. The girl-evator swung the bales up the stack like it was nothing, and now when we feed we have to duck under the rafters to keep from bumping our heads!
How much hay did we move this week, you ask? About 29 tons, which works out to be almost 60,000 lbs of hay in 3 days! If you divide that by the number of people, that works out to around 3,000 lbs each! Wow, no wonder we are all tired.
Moving hay bales is hard and dusty work, but there is something so satisfying about watching the empty truck head up the driveway....
Good work, crew. Let's do it again next year!

I love hay!
Another highlight of the week was staring at the sun.... through a telescope with a filter of course! Members of the local astronomy club brought several telescopes and we all had the opportunity to look at the sun with a filter that blocked out 99.999% of the visible light. It was quite amazing to see the sun at this scale!
