The cowgirls this week have certainly become very at home on the range, from putting in hay to taking some more advanced trail rides to working in the garden to building—and utilizing!—some jump courses. We have so appreciated the good spirit, enthusiastic work ethic, and deepening friendships of this camp.

On Thursday we took advantage of the small size of this crew to have a truly unique adventure: an overnight horseback trip! We packed up our bedrolls, saddled up the trusty steeds, and set out to explore some of our favorite backcountry trails…

After riding all afternoon, we were glad to see a friendly homestead off in the distance, offering water for the horses and a place to pitch camp for the night. Thank goodness for the Hacienda!

For dinner we gathered around the campfire to enjoy some locally-made hotdogs, followed by some songs, stories, and bananna boats!

Before long, it was time to settle down for bed underneath the wide open starry skies. Better get some rest before we hit the trail in the morning.
