Craft Camp – NEW in 2018!

PLEASE NOTE: There is no horseback riding during Craft Camp. The horses are busy teaching campers in Session 3A!

Do you have a deep love for creating beautiful and useful projects that lead you and others to inspiration, contemplation, and shared joy? Are you happiest when surrounded by paints, fabric, printmaking and paper-making tools, a huge expanse of natural inspiration, and other folks who love creative crafting as much as you do? Well then, c’mon down to Craft Camp at Ekone!

The Craft Camp session is new in 2018, provided because of all the feedback we’ve heard from campers and their families about how AWESOME it is to craft at Ekone, in tune with the natural environment and as part of a supportive creative camp community. We’ve also heard how some campers wish they could just craft all the time instead of being distracted by horses–this camp is for all the Ekone campers who have wished they had just a little more time to work on those creative projects!

At Craft Camp, campers won’t be riding horses, but will have the opportunity to learn new crafting skills, as well as the time to go deeper with and develop more skills around the craft and art projects that they are most interested in. As is the Ekone way, campers at this session will also be able to leave their mark and contribute in really meaningful ways to this place and this community—in 2018, Craft Camp participants will be creating a mural of native plants and animals, along with other creative projects around the ranch and on the land that will inspire future earth stewards and visitors to Ekone.

Craft Camp activities won’t include horse-riding, but will center around creative homestead crafts, including as much of the following as we can fit in!

Painting and visual arts: in 2018, creating a mural of native plants and animals to inspire and educate future generations!

  • Leatherworking: making bracelets, pouches, and talismans
  • Sewing: learning machine and hand sewing of clothing, bags, and other projects
  • Printmaking on paper and fabric: with carved blocks and/or silkscreen
  • Natural sculpture: creating mandalas and sculptures on the land from found materials
  • Making candles and soap
  • Jewelry making: especially from found materials
  • Papermaking
  • Collage and decollage
  • Lantern-making
  • Bookbinding

As with every Ekone camp, Craft Camp participants will also get to experience the wholesome homemade food of the famous Yummy Tummy Cafe, sleeping under SO many stars, hiking and exploring out on the land, swimming in the pond, singing around the campfire, participating in daily ranch chores, and the incredibly nurturing and supportive camp community of Ekone Ranch.

In 2018, we’re offering just ONE session of Craft Camp:

July 1-7     Ages 10-18     Tuition: $970     Capacity: 12 campers

This session runs concurrent to a session of Wrangler Camp.
